Pros
There is opportunities to move up. Full-time and Part-timers get free education now. Colleagues in sales positions like jewelry, fragrance, beauty, and home get commissions and bonuses.
Cons
Management roles need more bias training in all subjects in my opinion (Race, Age, and Sex). It should happen quarterly or at least twice a year to remind them as leaders they need to be fair to all colleagues. Managers tend to have favorites, I noticed this from working at more than one location. For example hiring only Spanish speaking colleagues over potential hires that speak other languages and English (or have heavy accents) and on top of that have current Spanish speaking colleagues to be their fulltime translator with no pay increase. They have a new system where ALL colleagues can work in any department. So basically more work and no pay increase. So if you're back of house they can throw you into cashier training whether you're comfortable with it or not. To cover breaks and to just help with long lines. You wont reap any sales benefits unless someone signs up for a credit card which is rare especially when you're lack training.
