Pros

Really nice kids. The lessons are interactive and play music. Referral bonus is easy to get.

Cons

I would have let this go if they hadn't sent me a rude email at the end after I told them I wouldn't teach for them any more. Here's my experience: I really wanted to like this company, but... They micromanage and watch every class very closely. Among other things, they complained that I spin in my chair and they didn't like the way I extended the material on the slides. For example, I asked one kid if they liked ice cream. They said not to ask them if they like ice cream. Let me say that with my other company I have taught over 4,000 classes and have a perfect 5 star rating with the parents. I have been doing this for over 2 years now. I have never had a single complaint about "spinning" in my chair. I have never received anything but positive compliments about my ability to extend the material and practice conversation with the students. Another con is that they want you to be in the classroom 10 minutes early as part of the bonus. The thing is, this is not just part of the bonus, it is an expectation. If you are not there 10 minutes early (I could only be 5 min early because of teaching classes with my other company), they will blow up your phone. They want you to be on camera at least 30 seconds early as well. Another con is that the platform is very buggy. Sometimes the camera won't open, sometimes the students can't see the slides. When a class is not able to be taught due to issues with *their* platform, a teacher is not compensated. To add to this, and this may or may not be their fault, I got a terrible virus on my computer right after I downloaded their teaching app. I had to reinstall Windows and lost a lot of my programs.

Magic Ears Response

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, things could have worked better. Magic Ears has very high requirements about class and provides the best help for teachers. Magic Ears will review classes of teachers regularly according to ranking and provide feedback, and we will review classes with low ratings just in case the low rating is invalidated. And various topics of workshops are also provided for any signed teachers. Our requirements about entering the classroom early is, if you could enter 8 mins for first class of that day, you will get extra $1 bonus for all the classes you teach. And if you don't want the bonus, enter 5 mins early or inform us ahead of time and enter at least 2 mins early is fine. Magic Ears has higher requirements for equipment because it's group class that holding 5 people's video and audio in real time. However, according to our statistics, our bug rate is much less than similar platform. Thanks for your advice, and Magic Ears will be better and better with the dream of Magic teachers and kids.

Pros

Pay is pretty good if you can commit to enough hours to earn bonuses

Cons

hours are Beijing time, so very early morning in the US They have switched to homeroom classes, so you can't just open your schedule on days you are available and get scheduled, which was what made this attractive before as a filler for when other jobs weren't as active
