Pros

You will learn a lot at Magna Powertrain. The pay and the benefits are very competitive. Upper management works very hard to get the word out to the employees (employee meetings that are scheduled for 45 minutes often stretch to two hours---because they do go the extra mile). You can get training here that will help further your career. This is a solid company that just keeps growing.

Cons

However, the middle management is a big red flag. From an engineering standpoint, the management is excellent. The operation is lean, and the mistake proofing is top notch. Where they fail, and fail miserably is with their people. The floor supervisors all learned their jobs in this manner. And the lack of skills with the people on the floor is the reason for the union drive last year. The people on the floor are seen as inferior and stupid. If you have to threaten and lie to the people, and dedicate resources to watching video footage to see who left their shop rags on the floor so you can write them up, then as a management team....you have failed...and failed miserably. Saying "we can't because the people are stupid" is a very defeatist mindset. It doesn't work in the long run, and you won't be able to meet the demands of your customers. 90% of a shops problems are it's management.

Pros

Competitive pay and benefits were pretty good.

Cons

They matched GM's schedule and daily numbers which is fine if you're willing to work but it's a teamwork environment and always someone either not pulling their weight or something breaking down or I.T. issues makes 8hr days 10-12hr days OR car sells slow and you barely get 4-6hrs daily. There's no normal/smooth days or family life.
