Pros
I retired in 2015 after almost 40 to the day years of service at Paoli Hospital. For those seeking positions and a career in the security department I would recommend it. It was a "never a dull moment" type atmosphere.. The campus , a Level 2 Trauma Center , is one of the best in the nation in my opinion. Your daily routine is composed of random foot and mobile patrol of the campus , securing the helipad landing zone for incoming helicopters and assisting the flight crew down into the trauma bays with patients. Add that to the duties of securing sensitive areas , responding to emergency situations , monitoring the CCTV and alarms in the state of the art Dispatch Center just to name a few. The staff to work with are great along with a great security director. Pay and benefits are excellent and may I mention the pension is pretty good. Remember, if hired you may the first impression a visitor, staff or patient comes away with. There is plenty of interaction with public.Remember you are also a public relations officer in the role of security officer at Paoli Hospital. Do great job and good luck !
Cons
Weekend coverage may be an issue for some but that is the nature of working in healthcare. But you will get used to it and it is nice to have days off during the week.
