Pros
Top pay is decent compared similar careers in the area. A pay matrix determines your value to the company so pay increases for under-achieving employees is guaranteed. The union representatives will do everything within their power to help you keep your job, even if you don't deserve it.
Cons
Supervisors take credit for the good ideas of the production employees. Any suggestions are "taken into consideration", ignored for 2 or 3 months, then magically appear when management just happens to stumble upon the novel idea you gave them earlier. Of course, they conveniently don't remember you ever mentioning it.
