Pros

Mindless and busy work Lots of meetings Little supervision Free food Could be flexible

Cons

No support Uncomfortable “professional” culture Fear-based / self protective mindset with supporting students Bad food Lack of supervision. Within one month, for staff quit. Upper staff didn’t step in to support the overwhelming caseload. Students pay very high amount to go to this program and often felt as if they came off entitled, out of touch, and associated. Team did not seem to care that students spent on average nine hours on cell phones. However would care if students looked bad to the public eye

Pros

-Heartfelt work culture based on care for one another and the wonderful students! -Transparent, encouraging, and approachable upper management. -Reasonable pay and perks for an entry level part-time position. -Holistic approach to student and staff development and wellbeing. -Potential to go on fun trips with the students such as hiking, ice cream, bike rides, and most other activities you can think of!

Cons

-It is easy to "pretend" to work on your laptop, and no one calls you out for it. Substitute Community Engagement Coaches don't have much required work, so you need to figure out how to keep busy. -There is less socioeconomic diversity than many other human service positions because Mansfield Hall is an expensive privately funded program.
