Pros

-Small community-like atmosphere -Great parents/students -There are some wonderful school administrators..and some not so wonderful -Salary

Cons

-No paid family leave and caps on how much of your PTO you “get to” take -Not accommodating for employee needs and uses a “one size fits all” kind of thinking -Professional Development is oftentimes unhelpful and doesn’t think of the bigger picture -Accepts the fact that it’s low performing and doesn’t use research-based methods to fix it -Very little time for teachers which is causing teacher burnout -Avoids hard conversations and hasn’t even addressed diversity and equity in a very diverse student population

Pros

Some of your co-workers make it worth going into work everyday.

Cons

Only work here if you want teachers that are turned over every 2 years. This school district has no respect for teachers has no value for teachers and only uses them until they burn them out and throws them out with no future work. Students have no consequences for negative behaviors. They can leave class whenever they want. Say whatever they want, do whatever they want and then the teachers are the ones who are held responsible for the students behavior. Administration gives no support to teachers and allows the students to go so far as to laugh in teachers faces because they know they run the school not the other way around. Students are allowed to turn in their work till the end of the semester to keep the failure rates down so the principals and superintendents look better even if that means teachers are up all night grading work so that the can get it in to make sure the students pass.
