Pros

This is both a con and a pro depending on your particular outlook: Site-based leadership Each school's director has a lot of ability and control to lead their specific model. I my opinion, this is a pro. I think it's good that the district does not dole out one-size-fits-all schools. Each site has it's own atmosphere, learning model, and goal but they also strive to meet state and federal standards. I also like that director's abilities are carefully assessed, ensuring the best school/director fit while taking student needs into account. Every director has a good chance to demonstrate their strengths, and every summer they are carefully assessed. Change for the sake of student and staff success is a good thing! I've worked in each school extensively and I love seeing different learning styles being met in different ways. That's my favorite thing about this district.

Cons

Site-based leadership. I think some people confuse a problem with their particular school as a problem with the district itself. This is a district of choice, and one director will not have the same style as the others. You might get a director you don't work well with, but the same is true anywhere. Here you have a bit more choice. I think the IT department is currently terrible, but I think that will change in the future. I'm confident that the current director of IT is so completely awful that it's only possible to improve the situation!

Pros

Some of your co-workers make it worth going into work everyday.

Cons

Only work here if you want teachers that are turned over every 2 years. This school district has no respect for teachers has no value for teachers and only uses them until they burn them out and throws them out with no future work. Students have no consequences for negative behaviors. They can leave class whenever they want. Say whatever they want, do whatever they want and then the teachers are the ones who are held responsible for the students behavior. Administration gives no support to teachers and allows the students to go so far as to laugh in teachers faces because they know they run the school not the other way around. Students are allowed to turn in their work till the end of the semester to keep the failure rates down so the principals and superintendents look better even if that means teachers are up all night grading work so that the can get it in to make sure the students pass.
