Pros

1. Large company with numerous resources one can use for personal development. 2. Good benefits, 401K, PTO 3. Potential to be a fun work environment and get to enjoy taking boats out on the water and participate in customer boating excursions 4. Good brands to sell: Sea Ray, Boston Whaler, Bayliner, Nautique, Cabo yachts... 5. Good use of CRM to help sales associates organize customers 6. If your location is lucky enough to have a delivery captain, this person acts as terrific PR for your product, and can be an invaluable resource to new boaters 7. Great customer care and introduction to boating

Cons

Note: Each of the 50 plus MarineMax stores in the U.S. is run by a manager. These stores are separated by regional groups with executive level management in charge of each region. Because of the way the company works, the experiences of one location's employees can vary largely from another's based on the way each manager chooses to run the location. During my time at MarineMax, I worked in a struggling location under unstable management. If you consider working here, make sure to consider how stable that location is before choosing to work there. In my experience: 1. New sales associates not properly trained to be successful 2. Management not trained enough to help employees succeed 3. Expectation to work long hours for weeks on end 4. Work more important than personal life, important family events 5. Managers will often get involved in deals to get a boat sold... this can very negatively affect commission even when managers make mistakes on the deal 6. Minimal pre-owned inventory, boats on lot not what customers looking for, so difficult to sell 7. More interested in making the sell than customer care after the sale
