Pros

Opportunity to grow if you work hard. Company is flexible if you prove yourself. Large amounts of growth and change going on due to globalization -- this can be both good and bad. This is still a place where you can make a career for yourself and explore a number of different jobs.

Cons

Benefits are good but not great. Some divisions at HQ are very flat and there is little room for promotion within a skill set. Property level associates have more room for advancement, it appears, so long as you are willing to move. This is still a "good ole boys" place to a large degree and senior management can be very conservative.

Pros

Cafeteria offers good food for a low price. Marriott discounts at other hotels

Cons

The favoritism of employees is backed by corporate. If someone has been working here longer than you, they get to pick and choose what shifts they want. If there is an open shift they also first get to choose whether they want it or not. Lastly if there are cuts, they get to choose if they want to stay or leave before others. The favoritism doesnt stop there. The managers also make them do less sidework, and give them good sections where as new employees are the bottom of the barrel in all aspects. Honestly horrible experience. They dont care about your well being either. Im scheduled opening and closing shifts consecutively which means I get under 4 hours of sleep between shifts. Sleep deprivation is not a joke; do not recommend.
