Pros
Freedom: No supervisors looking over your shoulder. Can make good money: you are paid by the job (not by the hour) so if you are motivated, you can make some really good money. Weekends are the busiest days so far (The last several Saturday's I have been making between $200 & $300 just on the one day, but some slower days you can make as little as $60 to $100.
Cons
Huge gap in communication between management and technicians. A couple of days a week technicians don't know who is dispatching for the day and that can cause wasted time and confusion. Also, a few months back we were closed for two days because of snow. The problem was that we all woke up at 6am to see what our jobs were to find no jobs. So we set around a wait a bit and look again. Then you call your supervisor but no answer. Management had closed for the day (I'm not complaining about that part because the road were kind of bad), but no one sent out an email or a phone call telling us that we would be closed for the day.
