Pros
My franchise owner was incredible and worked very hard to make our location a great place to work. They spent a ton of time making sure the front end had amazing sales training (their own practices, not corporates), and recruiting some great therapists to work for us. We had to operate sort of “on our own” since corporate provides little to no business support.
Cons
The corporate team is collectively one of the most ineffective in the industry. They refuse to change or look within to see why their market share is shrinking as opposed to growing. These franchises are closing more and more, and the corporate team doesn’t seem to see that nobody wants to do business with them. Most of the higher ups are related to the founders, and the rest of the team doesn’t seem to know what they’re supposed to be doing. Our revolving door of Franchise Business Consultants just kept spinning, most of the time, without us knowing! We can never get contacted back from corporate with real issues when they arise. They shifted onto a truly miserable new CRM in 2016 which was an unmitigated disaster which they never really took credit for. The only thing they seem to be good at is deflecting any and all blame back on their owners. To see how my franchise owner was treated by then disgusts me. It honestly makes me happy that this brand is flagging, because they’ve not done anything to grow. It’s very clear that competing brands are dominating this market. Massage Heights is on its way to being a brand with locations in TX, FL, and Canada before you know it. They offer no ROI, and I would recommend fleeing as quickly as possible to Hand and Stone if you’re seeking to open a membership-based business such as this.
