Pros
The hours were very flexible which was convenient since I went back to college for a second degree. The other instructors were great to work with as were the director and assistant director. The concepts were easy to teach because the material laid it out very well for the kids. The kids were better behaved than kids I had in the classroom and parents were very involved. Pay was much better than a typical part time job.
Cons
Occasionally students can be hard to handle which is typical and expected. You need to be proficient in a lot of math topics or be willing to teach yourself. Some parents can be overbearing or have unrealistic expectations: we can’t magically raise a student’s grades, grades will gradually increase as their understanding of core concepts strengthens.
