Wouldn't Recommend to Anyone. - Anonymous employee Matte Employee Review

-HR is awful. Truly one of the main reasons why I left the company. There's no one actually looking out for the staff and there's really only one person who runs HR -- and they do not care one bit about the employees. -Management is a disaster. Some departments have great leaders and managers, but most do not, particularly the one I worked under. I was often just left to do drone-like work and often had to do work for other departments because no one else wanted to do some menial, mind-numbing task. I didn't really develop many skills in the area I was hired for. -Politics win over ideas. Many people, including myself, would present new ideas and suggestions but if someone higher up disagreed (for no sound reason) then it would never be executed. I've found that companies that allow politics to reign over ideation fail. -Cheap. They do not pay well at all. I was never full time so I can't comment on my salary but I know they failed to pay people their worth. They also take advantage of their employees as much as possible when it comes to withholding payment. I won't get into specifics because it wasn't me who personally experienced this mishap but, in sum, there was an issue with Justworks for a few months with one employee. After around 3 months, it was sorted, but they never paid this employee the missing 3 months of pay. They also take forever you pay any invoices. Many external hires would complain about not being paid on time and I had a time where an invoice of less than $1,000 took 5 weeks to be processed. -There's also an unspoken awareness that one of the founders is extremely inappropriate (towards women) and unprofessional (both at the office and with clients). I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if articles were to come out exposing this person once the company folds. This company is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
