Pros
Usually there are good people to work with in the store. The health benefits are good but a bit pricey for people who work for only a few dollars above minimum wage. If you’re in school Maverik offers tuition reimbursement and most managers are willing to work around your class schedule. They’ve implemented a completive bonus scheme this year so every employee has the opportunity to earn a yearly or quarterly bonus based on sales. Recently Maverik has been doing a lot of upgrades and remodels to its stores to help increase sales so whether you work at a newer location or an older legacy store be prepared for a different service station experience. However, newer locations are usually busier and I’ve noticed that people are generally happier and more content with their jobs than people who work at the older, smaller legacy stores.
Cons
PEOPLE! Customers are late for work, had a bad day at work, whatever it might be, they take it out on the unsuspecting and assumed to be uneducated and uncultured gas station employee. Most employees can handle this kind of treatment well for a time but after a while, it can really grind you down. Also, your coworkers are not always on your side. They may flake out on work at the most inopportune times and you will have to stay at work until the manager finds someone to fill in.
