Pros
As a registry RN, I only work the shifts that I want to.
Cons
Cheapest in the industry on the pay that the nurse receives. The average hourly wage for a TELE trained RN with ACLS and several years experience is $35 - $40 an hour. Maxim only offers $30 per hour. It's a slap in the face and I won't be doing shifts with them. They simply do NOT respect their experienced licensed staff. The whole office has the air of walking into McDonalds: Get ém in, get their credentials, Get ém out. No personalized placement effort is made. And they pay that same insulting $30 per hour regardless if you are a new Med-Surg nurse or a Telemetry nurse with ACLS and 20 years experience. The twenty-somethings working in the office do not even seem to know what the difference is between, Med-Surg and TELE and refer to BOTH as "Med-Surg shifts". They also do not understand the difference between TELE and DOU or any other step down unit. ACLS is just a new burger offered with fries at Larry's Burgers down the street to these inexperienced young ones. Uh...thanks, but I hear my other registry on the line and they have a stepdown DOU unit that needs someone with my experience, training and licensure tonight. And their rate of pay, $36 an hour. So go insult someone else with your way-under-market rate of pay. Oh, and to the clients thinking of using Maxim to staff your facility. Just don't do it! You really DO get what you pay for.
