Jail, but with money and benefits. - Customer Service Representative Maximus Employee Review

Pros

At this point, it’s difficult to identify any real advantages beyond simply having a paycheck. Employees who started before this year were paid a fair rate, but newer compensation changes have created nearly a $3 gap compared to others in the same role. That makes it hard to view pay as a benefit anymore. Health benefits are great though, I will say that.

Cons

There are several challenges associated with this role. Leadership structure can feel inconsistent, and concerns about favoritism have been raised. The physical environment is very closed-off, with no natural light or windows, which can impact morale over long shifts. Employee culture can also be difficult—break rooms are often noisy, with people using speaker phones or watching videos, and professionalism varies. The work itself is high-volume, metric-driven, and offers very little focus on employee mental health. One wellness hour per month does not reasonably support a full-time workload. Although the company promotes remote work eligibility after one year, employees report frequent denials—even when ADA documentation is provided. On-site restrictions are also significant: no personal bags unless clear, no phones or electronics on the floor, and extremely limited internet access. Meanwhile, supervisors appear to have more flexibility and access than frontline employees and can watch Netflix. You get PTO, but you can never use it as you are constantly waitlisted. You can miss a total of 64 hours in a year and then you're gone. Overall, the combination of strict controls, high stress, limited support, and unclear pathways to remote work make it a difficult long-term environment.
