Pros

- Some of the most passionate, driven, smart, and creative people exist here. - Open vacation policy - Catered lunch (1x a week) - Great equipment - Opportunity to improve skills

Cons

I joined the company during it's tipping point (Dunbar's number), and perhaps I was experiencing those growing pains getting past 150 employees. The company was going through a lot of change, including mission and direction. The company always seemed in a rush, as if working harder and faster was better. Felt more like a chicken running around with it's head cut off. A history of rushed decisions and shortcuts led to some critical moments and overworked weeks. The company culture seemed like a farce, about being like a "family" but in reality felt disingenuous. I routinely saw people being underutilized, under-treated, and underpaid for their true potentials.

Thank you for the feedback. Our passionate and motivated employees are what makes Maxwell such a great place to come to every day. In the past year, we have certainly gone through some transition centered around growth. We have added customers, employees and scaled our product and technology offerings. We will be sure to balance simplification with establishing the right processes to position Maxwell to grow responsibly. We are constantly evaluating roles and career opportunities and will continue to do so as a core focus in 2017. Kathy Breslin VP, People

Pros

I've worked at a lot of places over the years so I've developed a strong sense of "red flags" over my time. Before I accepted a position at Maxwell I wanted to meet the founders because I've learnt the hard way that the culture of a company generally starts from the top down. Luckily for me the founders at Maxwell are both incredible and honestly, truly, want to build an amazing company that makes benefits better in America. They are both incredibly passionate about Maxwell, and the mission, and they live up to their own values constantly. If you're reading this you probably already know how rare that is, and how often values disappear when money is on the table. This is not the case at Maxwell and it makes me proud to be here. The other big pro (and when it comes down to it what else really matters) are the people at Maxwell. Incredibly smart, hard working, and just downright nice people surround me every day I'm at work and it's a constant pleasure to work with them. Everyone is genuinely committed to doing whatever it takes for our customers and I've witnessed people really going out on a limb to help in any way they can. Oh, and a minor point but we're starting to build up a really strong remote work culture which I personally think is incredibly important.

Cons

I honestly don't have a huge amount to write about here. Our problems are similar to any company of this age and size, some tech debt to fight, struggles to get conference rooms because we've grown so fast, and touchy wifi! Nothing major to complain about.
