Pros
The mission is the first thing anyone will talk about at Maxwell. Every single person here is committed to transforming this backwards healthcare system. In everything we do, why we're doing it is most important, and it's awesome to see how individual contributions affect our larger goal. This is also an incredibly diverse place, with people from all sorts of backgrounds and walks of life. Especially in the technology and insurance industries, both typically dominated by white men, Maxwell's diversity statistics are unprecedented. There is a culture here of empathy like i've never seen. The team here is incredible. Everyone around me is whip-smart, and ultra-motivated, but perhaps more importantly, I've never met a group of kinder, more welcoming people. There's a real passion for the work everyone is doing, and people actually like working and spending time together. I spend most of my weekends hanging out with Maxwell friends. The opportunities for growth here are amazing. This is a young company that's growing and changing, and new opportunities open up all the time. People that show exceptional commitment, creative thinking, and dedication to the people on their team are promoted often. That said, promotions aren't handed out - they're definitely earned. The office is brand new and amazing, located right downtown. Benefits are covered 100% and we just added lots of new benefits to our package, including pet insurance and a bunch of financial benefits. This is a FUN place to work. Cocktail hours on fridays, unlimited vacation, quarterly retreats to refresh and celebrate. I'm drinking the Maxwell kool-aid.
Cons
These aren't cons for me, but they might be for some. The hours are long, and hard work and high-quality execution are expected. We're solving huge problems for this country, and that's not a 9-5 job. Employees are given a lot of autonomy and are expected to think outside the box to solve big problems, and you're expected to reach out for help when you need it, and give feedback when you disagree with decisions. Managers are SO supportive, but nobody is going to hold your hand or do anything for you. You're responsible for your own success!
