Pros

The people you get to work with on a daily are great and you get to develop a sense of family within your project team. McCarthy is a big company with a small company feel, everyone, from the CEO down to the newest Project Engineer, is willing to engage you and develop meaningful relationships that are not just predicated on work.

Cons

The construction industry is rough no matter where you go. Long hours and stressful days comprise most of your time in this industry but if anything McCarthy does it the best. For newer workers, I would say the biggest con is the ESOP. You are sold on the idea of being an "Employee Owner", but you won't be able to truly see the appreciation of your ESOP account until 10+ years in, at least that's what I've been told by my mentors. That being said, if you view construction being your end all be all. You can't get better than McCarthy. But, if you're looking for a company to provide you with experience so that you can switch careers later on, this might not be the place. You agree to take less pay than other competitors because the ESOP has to be fed and your yearly salary is unfortunately the martyr.

Great retirement/401k options. Employee owned.

Cons

If you don’t drink the koolaid, you won’t fit in. Can be very cliquey
