Pros

MedVet is overall a family oriented and employee driven veterinary hospital. It seems like management really does want to hear feedback from employees as well as provide great patient service. Realistically, it's a difficult field and there are tech and vet shortages. They try to get creative to improve this for employees but it is a slow process. I feel as an employee that our local management does listen and look to improve the work-life balance of the employees and take employee feedback to improve the overall hospital culture. We get the benefit of doing what is best for our individual hospital as well as having other hospitals to reach out to when problems arise to help us troubleshoot and find solutions. There is a huge effort to provide employee training and CE's which isn't common in our community but is appreciated from interns to assistants to RVTs. Our hospital is big on fully utilizing RVTs, which is makes me happy as an employee seeing clinics that don't always allow RVTs to utilize the skills and education we've worked for.

Cons

It often feels as if we are all spread thin across our hospital both on clinically and in management, especially given the shortages in the veterinary field. It's not a problem easily resolved but continuing to look for ways to improve it is important.

Thank you so much for your comments. I'm glad to hear that you feel supported in your continued professional development. I was able to spend some time in the ER at the Worthington Hospital, and was incredibly impressed with the skill level, communication, and professionalism of our technicians. Thank you for all you do. The shortage in our industry is a challenge, and we welcome your referrals!

Pros

The staff at the Commerce MedVet have been very supportive and helpful with teaching me the skills I was previously lacking. I got my first feline jugular blood draw and I was also given great tips about IV catheter placement.

Cons

I have no cons, the staff are very welcoming and if you want to learn they want to teach.
