Some employees aren't very kind to patients. It took me a bit to begin seeing this. They are impatient or frustrated easily, calling patients names and picking favorites. I had to bring this to HR before I left and don't know if it will be taken seriously. I really loved working at MedVet and there were some employees who were very kind and patient. I was told that I was hired as a kennel tech but when I found out about open positions as a Vet assistant then I wanted to move to that position since I am in school to be a Vet Tech. There is some title confusion and at first other employees were eager to teach me things and let me assist with animals but then started acting like they didn't want my assistance when they felt I was just there to clean up after them. Be prepared to pick up so much trash that is thrown on the floor. Even when slow it won't be picked up by the techs who sit around on their phones. Not every Tech was like this though. Some were just very messy and lazy. I was told that in January it may be possible for me to move into a vet assistant position. There were and still are several shifts they are hiring for. I was then told that I couldn't and had to stay as a kennel tech for 6 months once January rolled around. This made zero sense to me. I was more qualified than most other vet assistants that were hired and I was a hard worker. The schedule was difficult for me so I decided between that and the coworkers who were always in negative moods and mistreated the patients that it would be best for me to leave.
