Pros
I worked at my previous company for 16 years and this is the first company I felt actually welcomed where they invested in my training up front. Kind of like emerging from the darkest shadows. Every person I met on my team as well as other teams has been cooperative and supportive. Genuinely pleasant people to work with. Earlier someone stated that Medidata is a niche market. Well, it is! However, that is only as limiting as you make it. Any employment allows you to foster skills such as project management, troubleshooting, and teamwork that are valuable and highly coveted intangibles whatever industry you are in. Being a niche market is not limiting as you will get out of it what you put into it. Finally, I voluntarily took a pay deduction from my old company which I absolutely needed to get out of. However, that pay deduction has been offset by some fantastic benefits. My dental insurance is one of the best per my dentist and I have an expensive medication for my son which is covered 90%. Got to keep those intangibles in mind as well.
Cons
Is Medidata perfect - no. However, what company or person for that matter is? Is it the same when Glen (the founder) was alive - no. However, the company is currently striving to evolve and emphasizes employee value. I do think that Medidata is still trying to find themselves in terms of processes/teams and that interim confusion may not be a suitable fit for someone that requires absolute structure vs a person that can adjust to change relatively well. I came from a place with absolute chaos so any remote amount of structure/process is welcome. Someone else might have a different opinion.
