Pros
I was very pleased with my experience volunteering in the Child Life Department at Miller Children's Hospital. You are surrounded by positive staff, and are supported promptly upon any question/ concern you might have. The impact you make with patients and families, and the professional experiences you gain from volunteering in a renowned hospital, are just a few of the reasons I enjoyed my experience. I am glad my university connected me with this opportunity!
Cons
Not necessarily a con, but worth noting, there were not as many opportunities for growth (i.e. job openings) in the Child Life Department, as I imagined. I volunteered, 3hrs/week, for a year and a half post college graduation.
