Pros

-Pay is decent, the extra pay on weekends is a plus -Fairly flexible with school hours -Majority of managers are helpful -Easy POS system

Cons

-Inflexible weekend schedule -Absolutely hectic spring/summer weekends -High expectations from management, perfection is almost a must -If you don't completely buy into the culture, you feel like a complete outsider. The culture is one that feels almost like indoctrination. That nothing is better than Menards. That there is nothing more worth while than working at menards. -If you don't like treating customers like criminals with every purchase, don't work here, they train heavily in asset protection to almost a fanatical level -Point attendance system is a poor idea, as it allows for no wiggle room in terms of being a little late or having to callout even when they mess up on time off. -You'll have to learn which managers are approachable and which you need to stay away from, this is a must -If you work during the spring/summer, expect to stay at least an hour after close putting away returns. -They don't have any people dedicated to putting away returns during store hours. -Yes, that means that some nights you'll close at 10 and leave around 1130 because they don't have a plan to deal with the absurd amount of returns they go through in a day. Keep in mind this doesn't include all the workers who actually understand where these items go. If you work anywhere but Cashiering, the closing call means you're done. If you're a cashier, the night has only just begun in some cases. -Cashiers often times have to pick up the slack for other departments, whether it's putting out product, or labeling product. - Didn't apply for cart duty/courtesy patrol? Too bad, you might have to do it anyways, and it is not good work.

Pros

40+ Hours per week of work guaranteed.

Cons

A toxic work environment can lead to termination without warning. Senior management prioritizes their interests and the company’s well-being, often disregarding employees’ rights and legal obligations. HR’s role is to protect senior management and the company, potentially at the expense of employees’ rights. Senior management continually chooses to a blind eye to wrong doing of favored employees, while knowingly prioritizing punishment of lower employees using fabricated policies that aren’t actually within store policy and procedures. Lack of accountability, lack of transparency, and lack of integrity run rampant with in the store and company. Unethical hiring practices, and weaponized incompetence to justify the out right gaslighting of your financial income and incentives. Pay deductions common place.
