Pros

Awesome hours in the summer. Pays more than minimum wage. An extra $2.50/hr on the weekends. Instant Profit Sharing Holiday bonus.

Cons

Discount is only 10% and you can only discount up to 70% of your next paycheck. The total purchase is taken out of that paycheck. Winter hours are terrible, can't even make a living. If they don't need you, they will send you home. Managers play favorites too much. Always an excuse for not being able to be promoted to full-time. If your store has a propane refill station, the cashiers that are certified make the same wage as a Head Cashier. No paid holidays for part-time employees. Instant Profit Sharing is 40% taxed. Holiday bonus is an in store credit and has to be claimed on your taxes. Health benefits are too expensive. Corporate makes visits to stores and micromanage. They don't properly train employees about products Can only punch in 5 mins before shift Lunch is only 30 minutes Management and supervisors don't get breaks All technology is outdated. Even the POS program. Constantly having to solicit the BIG card, as a cashier, or risk getting suspended, as if they don't play the commercial on the radio at the store every 10 minutes. Uptight managers make work uncomfortable. They just offered a .50 raise to all employees, but corporate told each store to deny the raise to 5% of their employees. If we're being verbally abused, a manager won't step in. They will just sit back and watch it happen. General Managers hand out ridiculous to-do lists EVERYDAY. Where in my job description does it say I have to pull weeds?!

Pros

Cons

scheduling/hours (clopens and schedule all over the place) who your store manager is determines your whole experience have to pay for work clothes the amount of time it takes to walk to break room or out to your car is part of your break constantly monitored by cameras store managers will push off issues on to you or will refuse to help extreme lack of training, you are thrown in the deep end horrible benefits (insurance, 401k match nonexistent)
