Pros

Working at Menards came with great pay, first and foremost. Base pay for myself was $17, but all team members made an additional $3 an hour on weekends. We also had an end-of-the-year bonus that increased back on years worked, essentially, the longer you stayed, the more you would earn at the end of the year.

Cons

Worklife culture pushed me to turn in my 2 weeks and seek new employment. Team members were forced to take their mandatory (unpaid) lunch breaks, but the reason so many team members wouldn't take their lunches was because of our workload. Taking our lunch would delay the work needing to be finished, and upper management could be cruel sometimes if work wasn't finished by the end of the shift. As I was leaving, managers were starting to enforce lunch breaks, or else team members would be written up.

Pros

40+ Hours per week of work guaranteed.

Cons

A toxic work environment can lead to termination without warning. Senior management prioritizes their interests and the company’s well-being, often disregarding employees’ rights and legal obligations. HR’s role is to protect senior management and the company, potentially at the expense of employees’ rights. Senior management continually chooses to a blind eye to wrong doing of favored employees, while knowingly prioritizing punishment of lower employees using fabricated policies that aren’t actually within store policy and procedures. Lack of accountability, lack of transparency, and lack of integrity run rampant with in the store and company. Unethical hiring practices, and weaponized incompetence to justify the out right gaslighting of your financial income and incentives. Pay deductions common place.
