The local home staff cares about their residents and their safety. They are all good natured and work hard.
Cons
Like with most corporate run IL/AL/SNF/LTC it seems as if once people get to a corporate position they forget, or don't care, about how to properly run a community/facility. Things are not fixed until they become emergent and/or completely unavoidable, and no updates occur. There is no sense of 'maintenance' when it involves putting money in. It seems the company is run by poor business people who make poor decisions that end up costing more in the long run. They are made aware of this and continue to disregard the pleas of communities. Corporate makes deals with national companies to supply work and products, and all these deals cost the communities more than local businesses', which leads staff to believe there is some heavy nepotism or kickbacks. The local marketing teams are expected to work magic 'just ignore this carpet that will never be replaced' or 'the building will be painted/renovated/look nice someday...' There is also a lack of understanding at the corporate level that every state, every community, is different. The websites are atrocious in that they have no local information and can not be altered by each community in any way. National corporations have a 'one size fits all' mentality that they could stand to lose. Oh- and there is zero 401k match. When we retire, if we can ever retire, we could never afford to live on the properties we've worked at. I have an MBA and I consistently wonder if those in charge have an degrees, skills, or training in business or senior living, as tried and true business practices seem to be nonexistent. I get it, we exist to make money for investors, but how much money will be made when there is a lawsuit? Or a scandal? Or if the buildings look derelict? If you don't care about seniors, and/or you can't find a way to profit while providing good housing and care, just shut your buildings down and find another revenue stream. Or, continue doing what you're doing, slap more band aids on issues and push them down the road so that you can eek out the profit margins that will impress your investors, who apparently don't care in the least how the green line continues rising.
