Pros

Mission statement and company culture of serving God. I do see my nurse supervisor visit the unit pretty regularly so it feels like they're in the struggle with me. Audits to prioritize patient safety are stressed to decrease number of falls.

Cons

Not the best staffing for units- patient ratios are often 6, 7, and sometimes 8 patients per nurse. There's two techs on my unit and we are almost always full in every room so thats 28-30 patients for two techs. Nurse managers are at the mercy of hospital administrators not wanting to hire more staff- corporate greed I imagine. Barely scrapping by with your staffing on the units is not safe patient care. We cannot excel in healthcare, as our mission states, when we barely have time to care for all the patients piled on us.

Pros

Your coworkers are the best part of the job. Some unit managers are awesome to work for, but some are snakes in the grass.

Cons

Insurance and benefits are not great. You have to be sick for 3 days before you get to use your “sick”time. The first few days, they use your PTO hours. The administration is crooked and literally don’t care AT ALL about you. There is no holiday pay ever.
