Pros

I have been with Methodist for 25 years working as a family physician, then adding administrative Leadership in the affiliated Methodist Medical Group, and then as the CMO of the ACO. While Methodist has always felt like a supportive and a great place to practice medicine, as I spent more time in administration at the Medical Group level and then at the corporate level, I have seen the dedication Methodist applies to truly taking care of its employees from different perspectives. Methodist is making more and more meaningful and impactful changes to its work environment to promote safety, its culture of patient safety, employee compensation and benefits and employee support in an industry that is known for burnout.

Cons

There can be silos within the system. Information and activities within the system are not always transparent and communicated to all stake holders. To be fair, this is an area that almost all large health systems struggle with and Methodist recognizes it can always be improved and have made strides in this area.

Pros

Coming from a smaller size hospital but big company like Methodist and known high paying hospital in DFW, I needed more shifts. Since MDMC is bigger than my other PRN, I have higher chance of getting shifts because there are more monitoring stations, more staff taking PTOs, higher chance of staff calling out sick and therefore opening the shift, etc.

Cons

More workload and higher census! Almost 50 patients on heart monitor per station.

We're glad to hear that the flexibility and availability of shifts have been a benefit for you. As one of the region's largest health systems, Methodist offers opportunities that can help PRN team members find the schedule that works best for them. We also recognize that higher patient volumes and workload expectations can come with working in a busy, high-acuity environment. Supporting our team members remains a priority, and we continually evaluate our compensation programs and workplace resources to remain competitive and help our employees succeed. Thank you for the important role you play in caring for our patients and for being a valued member of the Methodist family.
