Pros

Free parking. Annual holiday meals for staff. While I did enjoy the little appreciation gifts throughout the year, those trinkets and snacks don’t pay the bills. That money should have been spent more wisely. My heart aches for the ancillary staff that are struggling financially.

Cons

Poor training. Unsafe ratios. All staff overworked and grossly underpaid. Raises that barely surpass COL increases (2.5%). Unaffordable insurance plans. HIGH staff turnover and large volume of travelers earning 2-3x regular staff RNs. You will be asked to sign a contract as a new grad; leaving before contract term will result in being billed for “cost of training.” Poor security measures. Most all physicians are awesome, few are unhinged and never reprimanded.

Pros

Overall, a pretty strong health system in San Antonio to work for! I really love Methodist's emphasis on community engagement! And their programs seem to be very uplifting and empowering for both health care employees and for patients and their families!

Cons

I think that the onboarding could be somewhat more streamlined or smoother. I have to admit that I had to do a lot of driving to different Methodist facilities to get different parts of my onboarding dashboard taken care of and completed. It would have been much nicer if some of these onboarding tasks could have been consolidated into one, two or 3 locations at most.
