Pros
Health insurance, retirement match, generous sick and vacation leave for salary employees. Most hourly folks are protected by unions. Staff development training options
Cons
Miami has really gone downhill in the 15 years I've worked here. The way leadership handled the pandemic is frustrating and frankly dangerous. It's almost as if the Provost decided he wanted it to be over and the attitude around our ability to work remotely changed overnight. Basically, they made it feel like they didn't trust that we were working just as hard and actually harder during that time. Their unwillingness to offer hybrid or remote options is causing a mass exodus of so many people and I will soon be one of them. Wages are an insult. The leadership at the regionals plays favorites and sexism is obvious. I can't imagine how unsupported people of color feel working and studying here as discrimination shows up often. I used to be proud of working here and have met and worked with some very interesting people, but the Miami that once existed is no more.
