Pros
The staff was definately a pro, very friendly and fun to work with. Your co-workers are the foundation to a healthy and positive working environment. I made life-long friends working at michaels. The discount was great, it was a 1/4 off and then once a year during employee appreciation it was 40%. If you are into crafts of any kind it is a good place to learn about all sorts of hobby and crafts you may have never heard of or had any interest in at all. Being able to go to school and having them work around your schedule was a definite plus also.
Cons
Unfair promotions, favoritism and raises. A person I worked with was gone for an extended period of time and they held that persons position until they came back, not knowing if they would come back or not. unreasonable deadlines and corporate expectations. poor scheduling. A person wouldn't know what they were working one week to the next. One week i would have 35 hours a few weeks later 12. Lack of sympathy and understanding for illness or injury by management. Some of the employees had a terrible work ethic. They would do poor sloppy work and it would be someone elses job to clean it up, instead of making them fix it and teach some resposiblity. The uniforms were not my favorite, we had little pay and then were supposed to purchase these uniforms with no help from the company, that was when I took my leave from Michaels.
