Pros

The entire IT team is very kind. People are doing good work and it is a positive atmosphere to be in. The software manager is one of the most kind people I have ever worked with. He will spend time sitting and explaining and doing work with each person that needs assistance - a true humble leader. If you are unsure about something, he will be there for you. He spent time explaining concepts and going through them programmatically with me when I needed it. He spends a lot of time fostering the people on his team. The only reason I stayed was because of his leadership within our team. He is more soft spoken, which is a huge positive in my book and generally speaking. Most people in software are extremely condescending and you feel uncomfortable asking questions. You are free to ask him any questions and he will happily explain. The CIO is a pretty cool guy, along with everyone generally on the infrastructure side.

Cons

1) MFCU morning cult-like promise 2) Dress code 3) Work hours are 8-5 (Why the extra hour i.e. 9-5 or 8-4?) One of the main reasons I left was because the CEO makes all employees recite a pledge of allegiance to the company every single morning at 8am... "the promise". If it wasn't mandatory and people had a normal group meeting, it would totally be fine for me. It just makes it more church or cult-like to force it upon people. There are places willing to pay much more money where it is not required to do this. Also, the dress code is a huge turn off, especially for software developers. Even Goldman Sachs doesn't make their developers wear suits anymore. You end up seeing your developer friends making more money and wearing flip flops and t-shirts while you are stuck reciting a morning ritual. "People trust people who dress professionally with their money," is what the CEO said about why the formal dress code - Amazon, Facebook and Google? This is an assumption of his, rather than an actual fact. Ask a customer how they feel about the person who wrote their mobile app, "Do you care if the developer wears a T-Shirt to work?" You can test these assumptions, rather than just assuming about the clientele. Most people would probably love MFCU more if they relaxed a bit. People can't relate to suits. People relate to people. Americans don't trust Wall Street and suits anymore. Be a Purple Cow. Do things differently. The vision is the same, just more flexible on the details. People dislike institutions. If the world hour was cut by one hour, which will likely never happen, people would be more effective in their job. Imagine what the employees could do with an extra hour compounded over one year? At work, it just makes the day one more hour of extra misery for no real purpose. People could eat, relax, read, exercise, sleep earlier, etc.. This one hour compounds and if you think about it, people would be much more productive if you gave them that small amount of time.
