Microchip Technology Response
11yMicrochip Technology Inc. is not aware of any recent instances where a stop payment has been issued by Microchip on a legitimate Microchip payroll check. As this post indicates that the impacted person is currently an employee, Microchip would encourage him or her to contact his or her supervisor regarding this matter. Without more information, Microchip cannot determine what occurred. However, Microchip takes such matters seriously and, with more information, would conduct an internal investigation to determine what occurred. Additionally, Microchip has recently been the victim of several mass-mailing fraud schemes wherein counterfeit checks have been sent to individuals purporting to be from Microchip and to be an advance payment for services rendered. Example services include “Customer Service Evaluator” under a “Quality Control Program.” These counterfeit checks may appear to be legitimate; however, they are 100% counterfeit. Microchip has posted notices of these fraud scams on its Web site at http://www.microchip.com/pagehandler/en-us/aboutus/suspectbehaviors.html. While Microchip cannot determine whether this post is related to one of these fraud scams, it seems likely given the fact that we are unaware of any legitimate payroll stop payments.
