Pros

8-5 hours (rare to work hours outside of normal business hours) Decent pay Non management staff is affable and professional

Cons

Employees and management are afraid of the shareholders to the point of just saying "yes" to every request despite how illogical the request may be. Employees are instructed by management that the their processes are voided on the spot if the shareholders want you to do something that contradicts their process. This goes against all that the shareholders preach as far as process management is concerned. This contradictory nature is a constant struggle as an employee. Employees are constantly told what a "great place to work" MidwayUSA is, but there are rarely moments that truly show this to be true- Employee Satisfaction is extremely low and the numbers are usually adjusted to make the company appear to have more happy employees. VP's and management are usually chose for a particular job based on their personal relationships with the owners instead of being placed in a position due to the merits of their credentials. Management are not professionals of what they manage. This cripples interdepartmental communications and hampers the quality of work. If you are not involved in the business's culture of hunting, you will be quickly branded as an outsider and not promotable. Employees are constantly made aware of issues that do not concern their positions during "State of the Business" and "Department Knowledge Sharing" meetings. These meetings cover vague processes and the welfare of the company as a whole. Meetings are rarely conducted that actually contain information pertinent to the jobs that the employees do. The State of the Business and Department Knowledge Sharing meetings are generally viewed as a waste of time by all employees.

Pros

Good Foundational Experience: Solid environment for learning basic customer service, handling high-volume inquiries, and getting your feet wet in a structured corporate setting. Predictable Scheduling: Part-time hours and schedules were generally consistent and easy to plan around. Facilities & Resources: Clear day-to-day workflow processes and well-maintained workspace facilities.

Cons

Policy Volatility: Internal policies and expectations can shift abruptly, creating uncertainty and frustration for frontline staff who have to adapt without clear rationale. Limited Flexibility for Frontline Roles: Strict adherence to rigid guidelines leaves very little room for nuanced decision-making or individual circumstances at the representative level. Communication Gaps: Major operational or policy changes are sometimes handed down top-down without sufficient context or feedback loops from the employees carrying them out.
