Pros
As a student worker, I obviously needed a lot of time outside of the job to focus on my studies. My position in the Office of Student Engagement at Missouri State University gave me this flexibility. My pros are as follows: Flexible hours Great Work-Life Balance Freedom to approach things in a manner you see is best Professional staff are great advisers and provide an abundance of guidance and wisdom Staff is friendly and engaged Current employees are given priority when applying for new promotions
Cons
Pay is so-so and raises are few and far between and are based on tenure at the organization instead of the quality of work produced There are peak periods where you can feel overwhelmed which are then followed by very boring lows where there is absolutely nothing to do Change is slow Technology is quite old Budget is strict
