Pros

I liked my team mates.

Cons

CS has a naturally difficult time justifying itself, so a common trap CS orgs fall into is to do activities that don’t actually accomplish anything. MongoDB is the worst example I’ve seen of this. Activities that customers flat out don’t care about are scrutinized in exhaustive detail by leaders, which naturally de-emphasizes actual customer priorities. The incentives this create are perverse. People compete to earn praise for their wheel spinning, so that they can stand out amongst a crowded group of peers all equally spinning their wheels. It was bizarre.

Pros

Great first gig and awesome career launch point. Not a boiler room and clear concrete expectations.

Cons

You must be able to learn technical and also lead your own meetings pretty early on so if that’s not for you it might not be a fit.

Pros

Supportive people, a strong culture, and meaningful flexibility are the biggest positives. I've had the chance to work with thoughtful colleagues who care about doing good work and helping each other succeed. There are solid opportunities to learn, build relationships across teams, and contribute in a way that feels impactful.

Cons

Workloads can be heavy during busy periods, and priorities can sometimes shift quickly (which is expected in growing companies)
