Pros
Great contacts and ability to get to know students and faculty in your department. Workload is not too bad, which gives good time to balance work, classes, and a personal life. Gives Tuition Remission depending on the department and position. Some professors and students you meet are great people to get to know.
Cons
Horrible pay, would not be able to survive if you live on your own. Disorganized management: never knew if my supervisor was the professor I TA’d for or my program coordinator. Horrible relationship with my program coordinator, who constantly makes me feel horrible about myself and lowers my self-esteem. Experience probably ranges from program to program, though.
