Pros

Once you're in, you're a member of their "club", so to speak. They take care of their own, and promote from within first.

Cons

It's a very traditional work place, and god forbid you do anything that's not out of the norm. Their culture contributes to a doom of their company for sure. Of course, this is a small town in Blacksburg and a "work-life balance" is unheard of. I wouldn't go in an expect innovation or change without fighting to the death for it.

Pros

Strong company culture, positive work-life balance, co-workers always willing to listen, help out, and contribute to the team environment.

Cons

Very slow in adapting to market conditions, backwards philosophy when developing products (build a new product/technology and then tell sales to find customers)...needs to be customer-centric development. Promotions and internal mobility are encouraged but when it comes time for that, it tends to be more of a 'who you know' versus 'what you know' selection.
