Pros

Mortenson breaks its job assignments into separate distinct areas of responsibility. A separate crew for almost everything. Things are kept more simple and direct. I didn't fully appreciate this until I started working on other sites who don't have this model perfected the way Mortenson does.

Cons

Because of having a well regulated workforce, it is difficult to move up the corporate ladder. And raises are hard to come by.

Pros

- Huge company with a lot of resources. - Cool projects.

Cons

- Pay is not great especially for the amount of hours they want you to put in. - They do not pay for experience. So, it’s a good place to start, but if you have experience, go somewhere else. - They hire and promote way too quickly which means inexperienced people are in charge. - If you work in the field, you will be putting in 50-60 hours a week often and they justify it by saying you get subsistence. Do the math, you’re not getting paid very well at those hours even with subsistence. Also subsistence is a benefit for traveling, not justification for overusing employees. - While a lot of the people are good, it is a very political atmosphere.
