Pros
Usually your work was pre-determined and the pay was not bad for the work performed. Most of the Supervisors were skilled enough with the work assigned and tried to listen to ideas of the workers when possible.
Cons
Parts were not always on hand when needed, and if parts did show up at the end of a shift you would be forced to stay over an extra shift with no advanced notice; and they never cared what plans you had made for after work. The workers that did most of the work got most of the work dumped on them regularly. The regular union workers were expected to uphold all the worker union agreements, but none of the workers ever got a fair shake from management after grievance was filed.
