Pros
The company has a great family atmosphere, everyone is very friendly, and there is a huge amount of experience across the company. Some IT systems are ahead of the game and have been deployed to encourage a working together attitude. Too many systems have been outsourced, there is little internal knowledge and suppliers are running the ship. Some business areas driving their own technology requirements are superb, but the core infrastructure is suffering badly.
Cons
A large number of staff have never worked anywhere else, while this brings excellent levels of business understanding the drawback is that there is little to no understanding of how things are done elsewhere, often to the detriment of some of the unrealistic requirements, this leaves technical staff feeling under valued and ignored. Implementing new technologies is great, but when it is done without considering the impact on an enterprise scale it can be a potential disaster, and you constantly spend time firefighting, which is what is happening.
