Pros

Mount Sinai has to be given Kudos for attempting to create an atmosphere of mutual respect. They have implemented The BEST and AIDET initiative programs. They have the employees assistance program and provide opportunities for the employees to further their education.

Cons

The problems begins when these same programs are turned on the employee and used to hurt them instead of help. When LEM goals become ridiculously impossible and laughable. Basically, you feel that your being set up ot fail. AIDET, although, should be done as a professional courtesy becomes mandatory. Although, anonymous as well, you must fill out a special form and name detailed incidents of colleagues bad behavior. This is the twisted and distorted programs that exist now. Then you are told that it counts for 50% of your yearly review. Oh yeah, and no one qualifies for the "E"s. Everyone gets an "M" or "N" . No one can possibly exceed the standard of Mount Sinai. The demoralizing and demeaning way we are treated is incomprehensible. We stay because we pray it will get better. This month we are losing some people. The job satisfaction is gone and the self-respect has to take over sometime. The culture of Micromangement from the top down is enough to make you sick to your stomach. This is the mental and distorted mind of middle management.

Pros

salary pay instead of hourly so you still get the same paycheck on a month you took vacation. good for new grads to get experience with chronically sick patients.

Cons

PA leadership is unsupportive and the hospital admins care more about patients who have donated money to the hospital. pay is low compared to NYC PAs as a whole. and patients’ behavior is a problem.
