Pros
1. MphasiS lets you be a specialist. You can stick around in the same area/module for years if you want to. It helps you gain domain expertise. 2. Flexible holiday policies, mostly very comfortable. 3. Super-flexible working hours (generally) 4. Pune office locations are excellent (at least for me and a lot of people I know)
Cons
1. MphasiS pays way below industry standard if you stick around here. No or little value for continuing with MphasiS. 2. There would be a lot of times when no one, absolutely no one is accountable (this happens in several projects and in HR, finance issues too) 3. Promotions and hikes are almost impossible to get, favoritism/politics is rampant across verticals 4. Surprisingly, it's common in MphasiS to not process/extend Visas even for customer-favorite employees. MphasiS' own teams across countries compete against each other to retain employees (e.g. a manager in India would not let a much-wanted employee go to the US just so that she wouldn't have to hire a new one) 6. HP's takeover of EDS is absolutely messed up and MphasiS is hanging somewhere between. IT has to compete against its parent company HP for a lot of projects. 7. The place if full of Bureaucracy -- lots of processes with almost no accountability. 8. There's a severe firing going on secretly in MphasiS right now (May 2012), a lot of people are being relegated to bench and they are forced to take sabbatical or resign after 30 or 60 days on bench.
