A near total lack of communication between home office (the people who make the decisions) and store staff (the people who have to implement the decisions). This leads to rumors and misinformation spreading around the stores, which then leads to panic and frustration. The execs have promised better communication but I've yet to see any proof of it.
They claim to pay a "living wage" based on the MIT living wage calculator, but that calculator is based on a 40 hour work week and barely anybody is actually working 40 hours. Unless you're a manager or DM! Then you get to be overtime exempt and are quietly expected to work far more than 40 hours! Also, we did not receive a COLA raise this year like we have in years past, so we aren't even making the base hourly rate MIT suggests for a living wage in the Seattle area. At least we're still making $0.86 more than the new Seattle minimum wage, right?
