Pros

Work from home flexibility, 8-5, predictable schedule, standard federal benefits which can be better than the private sector, decent pay. Chance to help do great things for the Navy and get recognized for it.

Cons

I've never seen an organization set itself up for failure like NAVFAC: - Navy customers are very demanding (rightfully so, some have 50+ year old buildings with failing systems that never get fixed) and there is never enough resources to fix their issues. After some time you get tired of having to explain over and over the funding issues the organization has "sorry you have to live with a roof leak since 2015 but we still don't have money to fix the issue". - Management is BAD. Some employees do their job if they feel like it and there's no consequences for bad performance or for just being lazy. - HUGE communication problem even within the same department. Direction will be given from management and the workforce never get the word. Deadlines are missed because of this. - High turnover of the organization's leadership makes it difficult for any real and substantial change to happen. - Some "engineers" would never make it on the outside. Basic design flaws that ends up wasting tax payer's money and delays construction schedules. Again, no one is held accountable for this. - Many of the staff heavily rely on military personnel to make decisions that should be made at their level. It seems some people like being micromanaged. No incentive for innovation/decision making. - Inconsistent directions, and expectations confusses employees/wastes people's time. - The amount of waste I've seen in this organization is surreal. - Blatanly obvious some people are just in to make the bare minimum and collect a paycheck and retire with a pension (typical fed stereotype). - Some people are grossly underpaid for the work they do. The opposite is also true.

Pros

Won’t fire anyone, know how much you’re going to make.

Cons

Bad raises. Job growth is very uncommon. Management is incompetent from top to bottom. Not enough people and too much work. Nepotism is rampant in this organization. Unqualified people are promoted. Career bad apples are left without being fired or disciplined. First level managers are useless. They at too much red tape to do the most basic things. Upper levels are arrogant and hard headed.hiring has been frozen for a year yet somehow the ‘bud club’ is promoting people constantly who are in their ‘inner circle’. Hiring actions are super sketchy, names are dropped for specific people to be hired etc. It’s crazy
