Pros

I've been with NBCUniversal for over a decade solely because of my fellow colleagues and because it's pretty cool to work on the Lot. I've interviewed externally with smaller companies but until Netflix, Apple or Amazon come calling or I win the lottery, I think I'm stuck here. Which isn't entirely awful for the following reasons: (1) A majority of my colleagues and team members are the nicest, friendliest, and collaborative people which make working here so great and fun; (2) I also have an extremely supportive team and manager who are willing to fight for me and my team which again, is a HUGE plus; and (3) We've also been lucky enough to work hybrid (3x a week) with flexible hours in general since return to office in 2022 which has been great, and I hope we don't end up going back more than this. The health benefits (not counting vision or dental) are also really great at NBCU - they even began covering fertility treatments a few years ago which most companies don't do. Hence my overall rating of 2-stars for Comcast NBCU.

Cons

Top Management & Leadership's hypocrisy and severe disconnect from the work the employees do in the trenches is the biggest problem at this company. They repeatedly say they care about the employees - that they want to retain us, want to provide opportunities for our development and growth, but they repeatedly refuse to do actually do anything to make these things happen. EVERY YEAR we get a useless and quite honestly, an infuriating, survey to fill out (which we're pressured to complete by HR who tracks each department's percentage of completion) to gauge how we feel about working at NBCU. This survey is a complete waste of time and a JOKE. The questions are intentionally worded to create more positive results so the leaders can feel better about themselves. There are hardly any questions that are actually aimed at what the problems are, and when finally asked on what can be improved (literally as a "catch all" question at the very end to complete in a box), every year we write comments which are then persistently ignored. Honestly, we have more important things to do than complete this nonsense survey because...well, keep reading! I've been here long enough to see the typical, big corporate trend that when people leave, they're not replaced and the extra workload gets dumped on those of us who remain. Apparently there's never a budget for headcount to make employees' work-lives manageable and less stressful, but there's a billion dollars to spend on constructing new buildings on the Lot, and to spend on new monitors and tech kits which nobody needed or asked for during the pandemic. And then there's the sad salaries. Most people would think a billion dollar corporation pays out nice salaries but the reality couldn't be farther from the truth. As a single person, (and it seems likely to stay this way) if I don't leave for a company like Apple, Netflix, or Amazon soon (or win the lottery big time), I'll be working here until the day of my funeral since retirement is not an option so long as I'm working at NBCU. And Leadership wonders why Netflix was (and still is) so easily able to poach NBCU employees! Again, there's money to make leadership and the company look good in the eyes of the public, but not to make employees' lives manageable by keeping or adding headcount to help employees who are drowning under heavy workloads. Like most big corporations who care only about showing more profit each year than the year before, we're ultimately just numbers on a spreadsheet at the end of the day for leadership so why bother saying you care about employees and why make us complete these useless surveys when you're not going to do anything on the things we keep telling you need improvement???

Pros

Great perks and benefits! Free theme park tickets, cable, peacock subscription. Good place for interns

Cons

Entry level pay is very poor and not sustainable. Lot of politics when it comes to promotions and it is based more on relationship with management rather than actual performance. Upper management just takes all your work and presents as their own. Fake it till you make is at every level of this organization. Hired people as remote and now is laying everyone off.
