Pros

NIH has an amazing reputation! If you have the opportunity to work at NIH, take advantage of being able to be exposed to brilliant and driven scientists and other medical professionals. NIH may not pay well for IRTA Fellowships but being able to put it on your resume definitely helps if you are going to stay within the Healthcare field. NIH also pays for you to go to conferences and provides weekly seminars, other opportunities to intellectually as well as professionally develop.

Cons

The downside of working at NIH as an Intramural Rsearch Training Award Fellow are the salary.

Pros

Working with the some of the smartest scientists and clinicians in the world. So many learning opportunities. Kind patients. Allowed time to care for patients as there is no pressure of quotas by health insurance.

Cons

Nursing management can be verbally abusive with frequent retaliation and intimidation. As most older nurses have worked there for most of their career, they are dismissive of new perspectives and resistant to evidence-based practice.
