Starting to become the "... meh." - Senior Software Developer NNG Employee Review

Pros

Working for NNG was awesome. WAS. Nowadays it's not that good. There still are a few perks, though: - free mineral water - sorta-flexible time - free coffee (not too good)

Cons

The main problem of the company is that the code is a mismashed Frankeinstein's monster from hell, which was made with the "Deadline-driven development" process - and no major refactor has happened for years. This is slowing down development, and makes keeping on track a difficult feat. Upper management tried to tackle this (insert laughter here). Firstly, a Check-In/Check-Out logging system was installed along with a new policy making it semi-impossible to get a Home Office opportunity. Pay raises were postponed. Then a ton of juniors and managers were hired. This was a bit bad for morale. Talented people, who actually wanted to make a difference, started leaving. Workload started to increase. The number of management interns multiplied. NNG is still not a bad employer (in Hungary's standards, that is), but we're on a downwards spiral, pushing the pedal to the metal. A few other points: - strictly non-vaper friendly environment - flexibility is just a catch word, my friend! Flexible work time means that you arrive in the office in the morning and it's flexible if you arrive at home on the same day - the office is on a friggin' hilltop - the code is full of vulgar language in Hungarian

Pros

Great coworkers and wonderful talent. Every project was unique and exciting. This review only reflects management and the company as a whole.

Cons

Awful management. Horrible temp CEO. Owners and management don't communicate and have no clue what direction they want to take the company in. Ultimately this company is a sinking ship.
